(algebra) Jane and Nina live 480 miles apart. Wanting to surprise each other, they happened to start driving at the same time, and they met 3 hours later. If Nina’s speed was 10 mph faster than Jane’s speed, what was Jane’s speed? a) 70 mph b) 75 mph c) 80 mph d) 85 mph e) 90 mph So, I’m pretty sure the equation will look something like this 10x + 10(x-4) = 1,000 But don’t quote me on that.

Jane and Nina live 480 miles apart. Wanting to surprise each other, they happened to start driving at the same time, and they met 3 hours later. If Nina’s speed was 10 mph faster than Jane’s speed, what was Jane’s speed?

a) 70 mph
b) 75 mph
c) 80 mph
d) 85 mph
e) 90 mph

So, I’m pretty sure the equation will look something like this
10x + 10(x-4) = 1,000
But don’t quote me on that.

75 is the answer.
3x + 3(x+10)= 480
X = 75.
